Bobo: The Tribute. (Part 3)

Bobo is gone forever but i Will definitely miss:

  • his cute snore
  • his cute and hilarious whine when he sleeps
  • Him going under the computer table when he is scared of me. (i.e. to get meds from me, to get his bath)
  • him standing ever so cute in the kitchen and remains there just to let us know he wants food.
  • feeding him
  • him meow-ing so loud (coz he usually is very2 quiet) in front of my room, or mummy’s room; so that he can get out of the house.
  • his weird way of his catwalk (his walk is a lil weird due to the broken back bone he had when he was a kitten.)
  • He will seek for attention and come to me when i’m sitting at the sofa. He wants to sleep next to me or on my lap.
  • Him sleeping with me.
  • Looking for him when i want to give him his bath.
  • give him his bath.
  • His cute-unique-funny meow .
  • Putting his paw print on occasion cards or letters (birthdays, mother/fathers’ day)
  • Bring him to the vet
  • Looking for him when i come back home.
  • Looking for him every so often during the day, even though i know he usually sleeps elsewhere during day time and come back home late evening or when he wants to eat.
  • Miss the times we had on the swing. when he was a cute kitten, i would teach him to climb the swing, and he will be dangling. And he will finally able to climb over and be on my lap.
  • Miss the time i potty train him.
  • Miss the pitiful look he has whenever he wants food, when he wants to be let out of the house or anything. We call it the “10cent face"
  • Him sitting in the dustpan. He My brother would always lift it up. And he will remain steady calm.
  • Will miss singing songs to him.. btw, i am quite good at creating songs. ♪♫♪ bobo.. munyi2 ni.. mok2 mok2 ni.. itam2 ni.. pandai2 ni.. dit2 dit2 ni.. ♫♪♫ :'(
  • Him accompanying us to watch movie in the living room..
  • Waiting for him to come back home when it rains, or late at night so that he can sleep in the house.
  • the cute black cat that he is.
  • playing with his whiskers and jokingly threatened to cut it. Hahahahaaa~!!
  • To smell him.. hehehe
  • him “showing off” his bravery to us (we find it hilarious). E.g. biawak comes to the back yard. We saw and chase it. Suddenly bobo will came out of nowhere and chase it too..

Bobo: The Tribute. (Part 2)

The dreadful diagnosis:

Bobo had been getting inflammation of a nodule on his whiskers cheek (the white one). Each time after the surgery, the inflammation grew bigger and faster. After gone through 3 surgeries to remove what all of us (including the doctor) thought was a nasty wart, and burn it every time he remove it, it turned out to be cancer.

He had... ( i’m sorry i simply can’t remember what scientific name of the disease. I feel like a bad mummy. I have to locate the letter of the lab test result)

Doctor did mentioned that if we were to do the surgery one more time.. it is possible but he can’t guarantee that it won’t come back; judging by the speed and massive growth of the nodule. 90% chance it WILL come back, 10% chance it won’t. We may have to cut his cheek (burning it won’t suffice). The doctor and our family think that that is just cruel.. to maul his face up. Cutting his cheek will exposed his teeth, and he won’t look like a cat no more. He will look like a monster. It’s not fair to Bobo nor to us.

His last days:

I try to spend alot of time with him as i know he is gonna leave me. I feed him, hug him, and let him sleep on my lap. I cry whenever i feed him (he had difficulties to eat because of the oversized nodules on his whiskers area)that the thought of the dreadful day will come.

On the day he crossed the rainbow bridge:

I was still hoping of a way out. Hoping daddy changed his mind about euthanizing him.. (we had to. doctor advised us to to end his sufferings)

I sang to him while waiting to see the doctor.. i sang “Bobo.. dit2 ni, munyi2 ni, comel2 ni, pandai2 ni, itam2 ni ” (lyrics in Malay language) i sang in tears and i choked. L

When it was time, i was so afraid and my sister (Anna) and i was told to leave the operating table; only letting my daddy and brother inside. We went out just for a while but we decided to be in the clinic again only to see my baby no longer breathing. After the fluid was injected into his body, it took less than 1 min for his heart to stopped beating.

I remembered i cried so loud in the clinic. My brother hugged me. We took Bobo back to bury him.

I carried Bobo in a box home and as mummy was greeting us back, i saw her and i put my head on her shoulder crying and wailing saying “baby Ayesha dah tak ada!!! Baby Ayesha dah tak ada lagi dah mummy! Dia dah pergi”. Translation: “My baby is gone! He left me! “.

That was the first time i wailed in my entire life. Mummy always warned scolded us not to wailed. That was the 1st and the last. Mummy consoled me and all of us sat on the floor opened the box and mummy said while crying and caressing him, “Bobo tidur ya sayang mummy. Bobo tidur elok-elok”. His face does look like he was sleeping.

My brother had already dug a hole in the backyard where all the other kitties were buried and we proceed with the burial. Each of us say our good byes and gave him a hug and a kiss (he was already wrapped with2 of my brothers favourite t-shirt only leaving his face to be seen he is wrapped like a newly born baby.) all of us cried even daddy. Azzah was not around. She was in Selangor working.

After we have buried him, i asked my brother to burn the cushion he used to sleep on. I don’t want the other cats to sleep on it and get infected. (it’s just a precautionary measure). I also didn’t want the cushion to be laying around the house and be constantly be reminded of him

I was crying for days. He was my perfect cat. In my eyes that is. The whole family felt there was this big hole that can never be filled. That night when he was gone i did open the door thinking and hoping he will walk through it. Silly huh? J

I understand that we have to let him go. We have to free him from his suffering. He has a good run with us.. a good 9 years run.

Chokie (ginger cat)

Counting my blessings, God is so kind and merciful that he actually gave me a replacement cat for me to care for and give my love to, and that is Chokie Boy.. he came a month before Bobo had be put to sleep. I love Chokie very2 much. But my heart will always yearn for Bobo.. i will definitely miss him. No cat can top him.

A Tail of a Wonderful Black Cat. Bobo: The Tribute. (Part 1)

Today marks the 5 months anniversary of Bobo crossing the rainbow bridge and him being in kitty heaven. As promised i already finished up this tribute post of Bobo. It took me 5 months for finally finalising this and adding what i need to and posting it (even though i started writing this before his “trip” to heaven; the time i was preparing and bracing myself that he will leave me)

This is just to remind me and my family of Bobo; the special cat that he is. He brought so much joy. He’s the apple of my heart. i hope that all of you would be able to accept the departure of beloved furry babies.

My Bobo:

He is my cute adorable black cat. He has been with me for 9 lovely years. I loved him sooo much and i always will. My sayang, my baby. Bobo is a gentle cat. He is quiet. He doesn’t meow much; only when he wants food (desperately). Bobo doesn’t really likes to fight unless he needs to protect himself, or any of our cats that he has bonded with (my furry heroes).

All in all, he is a loveable cat. I just love cuddling him. He loves to be cuddled. Though he is not a looker like the other pure breed cats or pedigree cats, but to me he is my darling, my sayang, the apple of my eye.

I remember daddy will endless-ly tease and jokingly says that, “you are an ugly cat aren’t you?” while carrying Bobo and cuddling him. Daddy will also joking-ly say “you are ugly.. you have a face only a mother can love” hahaha.... Daddy!!!

The point i’m getting is that he is just a plain cat, and i LOVE him. The whole family loves him. He need not be a super breed cat for me to love. He’s just perfect the way he is.

How he came:

Cats have been so much a part of my family’s life. I’ve been having pet cats since I was a kid. It does seem so unnatural not to have cats in our lives.

One fine day, more like one fine morning in 2001, it was a cold misty morning and at that time i was 17 years old. As i was getting ready to go to school... i heard a kitten meowing. We were curious where the sound came from. We tried to look from where the meow-ing sound came from but failed.

After a while later, when i opened the door and there he was, running towards me. He looks sooo cute!

To cut the story short, we ended up adopting him soon after. (u know the normal drill where we will feed cats out of pity and care and eventually we end up caring for them for good)

9 lives:

U know when they say cats have 9 lives.. i believed it sooo much. Looking back, he has survived soo much.

3 major incidents:

  • Broke His Back –some idiot must have run over him.. it was amazing he could crawled and make his way to our drain and stayed there all quiet till my mummy came looking for him in the morning to feed him. He broke his back. It was “touch and go”, the doctor claimed. But God was ever so kind and merciful, he still let Bobo live. And he had a miraculous recovery. Daddy brought him back in a black cage. I was the nurse on duty to dispense meds and did the back bone exercise for him.
  • Long Cuts on His Body. – he was missing almost a day only to be found sitting quietly (again.. man! he really IS a patient kitty cat, but we don’t know the hurt he has inside) among the boxes. When i found him, he had 3 long clear cuts on his body and he was bleeding. Doctor claimed it may have been from a glass cut. He had stitches and one cuts the stitches snapped. He had to be re-stitched. I had to repeatedly put antiseptic cream over his stitches.
  • Pesticide Poisoning - he was fine the whole day until at dusk, we heard noises of something fallen down on the floor few times. i was curious and found him lying on the floor with a metal piece on top of him... i thought that metal piece had landed on him. As i was approaching him, i saw he was salivating a lot and lost his muscle movement and he was jerking uncontrollably and passed motion a lot. i went nuts

I was crying trying to figure out what happed to him. Thank God daddy turned around (he had left the house to go out). Daddy called up the veterinarian (he is my best friend’s dad) and ask him to open up the clinic for us (it was after business hours). Doctor told us it was not the metal landed on Bobo that makes him jerking and salivating, it was pesticide poisoning (all symptoms fit) and he gave 3 antidote jabs, each one after 20-40mins gap. Daddy and myself waited and i was relieved to see him getting better by the jabs given.

He must have gotten the pesticide in his system when he was roaming in the grass field of our neighbours and must have licked his paws that had some pesticide on it.

I was stunned to see Bobo acted like a different cat; like he had an alter ego. He was very aggressive and growling. Doctor said it is because of the pesticide poisoning effects, he was in pain. He gave one extra syringe for me to administer it at home, just in case. That night he had milk and the most expensive fish a cat could have (because that was the only fish we had in the freezer :P) to boost up his appetite.

I was devastated during this 3 major incident. For the fear i wouldn’t be able to see him again. Not forgetting when the times he was sick. Bobo was a fighter!
